’80s star Heather Thomas reveals why she turned her back on Hollywood after dealing with stalkers and a break in: ‘Really scary’


American actress Heather Thomas shot to fame in the 1980s for appearing as Jody Banks in the TV show, The Fall Guy

The hit show saw Thomas star opposite Lee Majors and she soon became a leading actress and sex symbol.

But with that fame came unwanted attention and she soon turned her back on Hollywood due to stalkers.

Speaking about what she had to deal with, Thomas, now 67, appeared on the Still Here Hollywood podcast and spoke about her experience.

“I actually did some work after The Fall Guy, I did a lot of movies and then I was just getting so many stalkers. Really bad, really bad,” she explained.

“At least two a week. I had tons of restraining orders. I had two little girls and a guy jumping on the gate with a giant buck knife.”

She explained she once got sent gun bullets and even funeral wreaths people would steal for her.

One time, things got so bad a man got into her bedroom and she shot him with a gun filled with rock salt.

80s stars – where are they now?

”Mine was scary… really scary. Someone sent me a box of bullets, and people would send me funeral wreaths they stole from a graveyard. There was a lot of psychos,” she said.

“I had one guy one night cut my screen in my bedroom and got in, and I shot him,” she explained.

Speaking about stalking at the time, she said that people would become “fixated”.

“In those days, I don’t know if this is true now, but people would fixate. You could be in a soap commercial, and they would fixate on you,” she said.

About turning her back on fame, she added: “There weren’t a lot of stalker laws, and I just needed to be home anyway.”

She starred on the hit show from 1981 to 1986.

She dabbled in acting in the ’90s, but last year, she made a cameo appearance in the film The Fall Guy film starring Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling. 

“It’s about time,” she said about them rebooting the show with a film to The Hollywood Reporter

“Everybody was lovely and it was so much fun and I got to work with Hannah Waddingham and Lee,” she added to the publication.
