A group of Sydney fans were all at a club to dance the night away to one superstar’s music. What they didn’t expect was for the Grammy winner to actually turn up.
On Sunday, Mary’s Underground hosted a night dedicated to New Zealand star Lorde.
Aussie fans gathered to celebrate the 28-year-old singer’s forthcoming fourth album Virgin by singing along to her greatest hits for one whole evening.

During the night, Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, gave clubgoers the surprise of a lifetime by crashing her own fan event.
As seen in fan-captured footage circulating on social media, the Royals singer snuck into the nightclub and made her way among the crowd.
One TikTok video caught the moment fans realised who was standing right near them, prompting screams of excitement and phones to immediately go up.

The singer then danced and sang with fans to her hits, including Supercut and Homemade Dynamite.
“Surprise on the Mary’s stage,” the official Mary’s Underground Instagram account wrote on their Instagram Stories along with a video of Lorde among the crowd.
At one point, Lorde went up on stage to have a dance behind the DJ booth to her latest single release, What Was That.
Needless to say, fans couldn’t contain their excitement on social media.
“What do you mean I was dancing to supercut with [Lorde]” one fan in disbelief wrote alongside a video of the singer in front of them.
The singer is set to release her first album in four years, titled Virgin, in June 2025 and has announced a world tour.

Lorde’s last album, Solar Power, came out in 2021.
Just weeks ago, the star surprised fans in New York City with a pop-up performance.
The singer had cryptically alerted fans to meet her “in the park”, which was deciphered to mean Washington Square Park.
Due to the large crowd numbers, police ended up intervening and shutting down the event minutes before the singer was expected to arrive.
Lorde ended up posting and apologising to fans that they needed to leave.
However, later on, she surprised fans by indeed showing up to the park to dance along with fans to her new track, What Was That.
