A Hollywood star has shared the time he underwent emergency surgery on a plane.
During a recent talk show appearance, English actor Stephen Graham, 51, detailed his “hell of an experience” having a catheter installed mid-flight.
The actor, who recently starred on and produced the hit series Adolescence, was travelling from the UK to the US when just hours into the flight he discovered an issue.

Recounting the story on Late Night With Seth Myers, Graham found he couldn’t urinate.
“I’m like, Oh, this doesn’t feel right,” he recalled thinking at the time.
He thought the issue would resolve if he went back to his seat and drank more water.
“Long story short, all of a sudden I went, but it was just pure blood.”

The actor admitted it was “very scary”.
“And I couldn’t stop this trajectory of blood,” he continued. At this point the star was “having a slight panic attack” on the flight.
Graham then remembered something: he’s already met a doctor aboard the same plane.
He ended up finding the doctor who by chance was travelling with a surgeon.
“‘He’s like, okay, and the surgeon, Dr Haji, says, we can work this out’,” Graham recalled.
They then sterilised the lounge area and got out a catheter from the emergency box.
The surgeon then “performs a catheter operation there and then” on Graham, who was laying on the couch.

“The relief was unbelievable as you can imagine,” Graham said.
It turned out there had been a clot behind the actor’s urethra.
Meyers then held up photos Graham took with the cabin crew and doctors after undergoing his operation up in the air.
Graham has been acting since the ’90s with notable roles in This Is England, Snatch, The Irishman, Boiling Point and more recently, Adolescence.
