Rachel Brosnahan has issued a strong message to her actor colleagues who take on roles in superhero films.
After a common trend of stars speaking out critically if the movie divided critics, Brosnahan, 34, said performers should “stand by” their roles.
Speaking to Interview magazine, the actress, who stars in the 2025 DC Studio’s Superman, said: “I don’t know why people say yes only to then turn around and complain about it.”

“Look, I don’t want to s–t on other actors, but there was a minute where it was cool to not like superhero movies and to look back on projects like this and pooh-pooh them,” she said.
“Do it or don’t do it, and then stand by it.”
The actress, known for her roles in projects including House of Cards and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, is set to star as Lois Lane in Superman.
It is directed by James Gunn and co-stars the likes of Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet.
It is set to be released next month.

The likes of Henry Cavill, Christopher Reeve and Tom Welling have played the iconic character of Superman over the years in various adaptations.
Brosnahan is also the niece of late fashion designer Kate Spade.

“Knowing Katy, this is how she would want to be remembered,” she said at the time in a tribute post, underneath a video of her and husband Andy Spade dancing.
Gunn recently praised his leading stars including Brosnahan and Corenswet and said they have amazing chemistry on screen, perfect for plaing Superman and Lois Lane.

“When I cast #Superman, I needed to cast Clark, I needed to cast Lois, but I also needed to cast that special onscreen chemistry between two actors that can’t be explained,” he said.
“That’s the thing @davidcorenswet and @rachelbrosnahan brought to this movie together, and I can’t wait for you to see it in theaters July 11.”
