Arnold Schwarzenegger says the 1988 movie Twins has made him the most money of his career


When you hear the name Arnold Schwarzenegger you think, “action star”.

His name is synonymous with blockbuster movies such as Terminator and Predator, so you might think that one of those movies is behind his biggest pay check.

But that’s actually very far from the truth.

In 1980, Schwarzenegger starred in the comedy film Twins alongside Danny DeVito.

It was a far cry from what the actor was known for, and neither he or DeVito were payed a salary for the film.

But it’s become the movie that has made him the most money, thanks to one detail in his contract.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Schwarzenegger shared that he and DeVito were given “a piece of the backend” from the film.

“It was fantastic,” he said.

“We went all the way to the bank with that one.”

Cohen then tried to guess how much the actor had received from the film, shocked to hear that it was more than $US40 million (approximately $61 million).

“It was more than any movie I’ve ever made, let’s just put it this way,” Schwarzenegger said.

While Twins never received a sequel, Schwarzenegger revealed that there had been plans to follow up the film with a second movie, however that got tossed out when the director of the film sadly passed away.

“The sequel would have been called triplets and it was not done because the director Ivan Reitman passed away just before we wanted to start shooting,” the actor shared.

In terms of who was going to join Schwarzenegger and DeVito as the triplet, the actor shared that it was one of the comedy greats who had been planned to join the cast.

“It would have been Eddie Murphy,” he told Cohen.
