Aussie rock legends have been left “reeling” from two devastating losses just days apart.
On April 17, the Hoodoo Gurus shared the news their manager Dominic ‘Mick’ Mazzone died.
Three days later, the group were rocked by the death of founding member, Kimble Rendall.
The band has reflected on the back-to-back losses in a heartfelt Facebook post today.

“I just saw this double rainbow on my way home from my walk a little while ago and I took it as a symbol of the two losses we have had in the Gurus family this past week,” a post to their official account read.
The photo featured two rainbows in the sky.
“We’re still reeling from the shock but their light still shines.”

In another post this morning, the group shared a throwback pic from “happier times” two years ago.
“A beautiful memory of a wonderful day, I’d give anything to be back there right now.”
The Hoodoo Gurus formed in 1981 in Sydney.

Dave Faulkner, Brad Shepherd, Rick Grossman, and Nik Rieth are the current members.
The group shared Mazzone’s death in a heartbreaking social media statement.
Mazzone became the Hoodoo Guru’s manager in 2024 according to The Music.

The band said they were “utterly devastated” over the loss of their “dear friend”, who died following an illness.
“It is impossible to convey the shock and grief we are feeling right now. We have already shed many tears, and there will be many more to come,” they said.

On April 20, it was confirmed the group’s original guitarist Rendall had died aged 71.
Rendall’s family’s publicist and friend Melissa Hoyer shared the news in a statement.

The band said they were “still trying to process this news.”
