Sheryl Crow has given a rare insight into her personal life, including her past romance with former professional road racing cyclist Lance Armstrong.
The singer, now 63, and the athlete dated from 2004 to 2006 and at one point were engaged.
In a new interview with Variety, Crow reflected on that period of her life by saying her split and cancer diagnosis at the time forced her to “reassess” her life.

In rare comments about their short-lived romance, Crow said: ”I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and I moved here [Tennessee] in 2007.
“I think having come out of a relationship [with Armstong, the publication says] where I thought I was gonna be married and was close to the kids that were gonna be my stepkids, then got diagnosed – all three of those things made me reassess.”
Crow said she moved to Tennessee to begin “phase two” of her life.

In 2006, Crow and Armstrong released a joint statement confirming they were going their separate ways and calling off their wedding, stating they made “a very tough decision”.
Shortly after, Crow compared the breakup to “a death” when speaking to Good Morning America and said it was taking time to get used to her significant other not being there.
“It is like a death. And in many ways it’s like having part of your life amputated, but you still have that phantom itch, you know, where you wake up and I’ll see something and think, ‘Oh, I’ve got to make sure Lance is hip to this band. I’ve got to put it on his iPod.’ And then I remember, ‘Oh, wait, you know, that’s not my life.'”
According to US Weekly, he wrote in his memoir that she wanted kids and he already had them and wasn’t ready for more at that time.
Crow, who is believed to currently be single, went on to adopt two sons following the split; Wyatt and Levi.
