Freddie Mercury had a secret child with whom he had a close relationship, a new biography of the late rock icon claims.
According to the book titled Love, Freddie, the Queen frontman welcomed a daughter following an affair with the wife of a close friend in 1976.
The daughter, referred to only as B, has kept her relationship to Mercury secret from the public until now – sharing the revelation with Love, Freddie author Lesley-Ann Jones.

In the past, her existence was only known by a select few in Mercury’s life but the singer reportedly regularly visited his daughter and gifted her 17 volumes of his personal journals before his death in 1991.
She kept the journals to herself for years before deciding to share them with Jones for the book which is set for a September release this year.
B penned a handwritten note which has been included in the posthumous biography, the Daily Mail reports.
“Freddie Mercury was and is my father,” the letter reads, per the Daily Mail.

“We have a very close and loving relationship from the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life,” it continues.
“He adored me and was devoted to me. The circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people’s standards, unusual and even outrageous.
“That should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me. He cherished me like a treasured possession.”

B, who was born in 1976, reportedly lives in Europe working as a medical professional with children of her own – meaning Mercury would be a grandfather.
The singer’s journals were kept private by B until sharing it with Jones. Details from those journals have now been published in the upcoming biography.
Mercury reportedly began writing the diaries when he first learned of the pregnancy on June 20 1977.

In the diaries, he reportedly reflected on his childhood in Zanzibar and his schooling days at a boarding school in India. His final diary entry was written in July 1991 as his health began to decline.
Mercury died from bronchial pneumonia at his London home on November 24 1991, aged 45, just one day after announcing hat he was suffering with AIDS. He had been diagnosed in 1987 but kept it secret for years.
In a second letter included in the book, obtained by the Daily Mail, B explained her reason for finally revealing her father’s identity.
“After more than three decades of lies, speculation and distortion it is time to let Freddie speak,” it reads.
“Those who have been aware of my existence kept his greatest secret out of loyalty to Freddie.
“That I choose to reveal myself in my own midlife is my decision and mind along. I have not, at any point, been coerced into doing this.

The author of the book told the Daily Mail that she was first approached by B three years ago.
“My instinct was to doubt everything but I am absolutely sure she is not a fantasist,” Jones told the publication.
”No one could have faked all this.”
