Disaster has struck the American Music Awards (AMAs).
After just one award had been announced, it was time for country star Blake Shelton to perform – but when he took to the stage it became apparent ”somebody’s getting fired”.
Behind the scenes someone had made a major mistake, because as the live stream went to air, no one could hear him.

While it seems that the sound was working for those in the audience, the sound on the live stream wasn’t working at all.
And what makes the whole situation even worse is that the only sound heard on the livestream appeared to be a pre-recorded cheer sound effect.

So, to paint the picture, what viewers at home witnessed was Shelton seemingly singing his little heart out in silence, while the crowd danced along and the same cheering and clapping noise was heard over and over again.
Of course, with a mistake as monumental as this, the internet is having a field day.
“Eeeeeeek! No sound for Blake Shelton. Somebody’s getting fired for this….,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Following Shelton’s ‘performance’ the show went on as usual, so it’s unclear if anyone in the room has yet realised the mistake made.
At the time of publishing, neither Shelton or the AMAs have commented on the situation.

On May 9, Shelton released his brand new album For Recreational Use Only, which he said “has been years in the making”.
While it’s clear that he was performing one of the songs off his latest release, we’re unsure which one it was, but according to social media it seems that it was his song Stay Country or Die Tryin’.
But we guess – unfortunately for Shelton – it’s a performance the world may never see.
