Australian model Erin McNaught’s nine-month-old Obi Brooks Kotaras undergoes brain surgery to remove tumour


Erin McNaught has shared an update on her nine-month-old son‘s health battle, sharing that he underwent surgery days after revealing he had a brain tumour.

The 42-year-old and her partner, music producer Stace Cadet, shared photos and a statement to their Instagram stories.

Stace Cadet, who’s real name is Stasi Kotaras, shared a snap of the Aussie model kissing her son after he received surgery.

In the picture, nine-month-old Obi is hooked up to wires and has a heavily bandaged head.

McNaught shared the picture as well as a message to her fans.

“Today Obi had the surgery to remove the tumour. The amazing team here are very happy with the way it went,” she shared.

“While it’s too early to tell much more, we are hoping this will have been his biggest hurdle.

She shared that the family are “taking each day as it comes but oh so thankful for today.

“Thank you everyone for all your beautiful messages of support. They mean more to us than you will ever know!” she told her fans.

The surgery came just days after the parents revealed Obi’s condition.

“For the last few weeks we have noticed a rapid decline in Obi’s behaviour and happiness. He was having problems eating, sleeping and most recently, keeping his head straight,” the dad shared on Instagram.

After taking an MRI, ”At about 6:00pm Tuesday night we met with a neurosurgeon who broke the heartbreaking news that Obi has a large brain tumour on the right side of his brain.

“We are absolutely shattered and the last few days have been our hardest days.”

Along with the statement, they shared a photo of the bub lying in a hospital bed, his MRI scan showing the tumour, and a shot of him resting on his dad’s shoulder on the hospital rooftop.

The couple thanked the staff at Queensland Children’s Hospital, sharing that they “remain hopeful that we can remove the mass and get Obi healthy and happy, pending the results.

“We have a long and difficult road ahead us but are so lucky to have our family and friends’ support at this time and we’re keeping focused on getting our little boy back.”

The post garnered many well wishes from friends and family, including the Former Miss Universe Australia’s ex-husband, record producer Example.

The musician, with whom she shares sons Evander, seven, and Ennio, five, shared a message of strength: “You got this ❤️🏆”.
