Carney targeting tight ridings in Quebec
Hi, I’m a senior reporter covering the Liberal campaign this week.
Carney is in Quebec today, targeting a series of tight ridings the Liberals are trying to win.
The campaign says it’s playing offence, stopping in Quebec City, Trois-Rivières, Shefford, Saint-Bruno and ending the day with a rally in Laval.
Carney is focusing on his closing argument that he should be the one to take on U.S. President Donald Trump.
At a rally last night in Fredericton, Carney brought back a line from his leadership race that he plans to “build, baby, build” — a play on Trump’s line that he’ll “drill, baby, drill.”
At his news conference today, the Liberal leader is expected to react to the Conservative platform, scheduled to be released this morning. Carney could also face questions about his own platform, released on Saturday, that includes $28 billion in cuts and $130 billion in new measures over four years, and adds $225 billion to the federal debt.
