Canadian mixed doubles curlers Peterman, Gallant secure spot at Milano-Cortina Olympics

Canada’s Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant will compete at the Olympic mixed doubles event at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympic Games.

The duo from Chestermere, Alta., clinched a Canadian berth at the Winter Games thanks to their performance at the ongoing world mixed doubles curling championship in Fredericton.

Peterman and Gallant went undefeated at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials in January to ensure that they would wear the Maple Leaf in Italy if Canada earned the Olympic spot.

Combined results from this year’s world mixed doubles competition and the 2024 world playdowns were to determine each of the seven countries that will join host Italy at the 2026 Games.

The two remaining spots in the 10-team field will come from the Olympic Qualifying Event in December at Kelowna, B.C.

The Olympic spot may now be in their grasp, but the job is not yet done for Peterman and Gallant in Fredericton. They face Estonia in the preliminary round of the playoffs on Friday at 9 a.m. ET.

Scotland will face the United States. The preliminary-round winners will advance to the semifinals.

The medal games will be held Saturday.
