The cast and fans of Charmed have endured another heartbreaking blow this month with the death of former star Eric Dane.
Dane’s death marks the third loss in three years for the cast of the cult TV series, which aired between 1998 and 2006.

Eric Dane, 2026
Grey’s Anatomy may have propelled Dane to stardom, but the late actor began his career on Charmed.
Dane played Jason Dean, Phoebe’s (Alyssa Milano’s) boss-turned-love-interest on the supernatural series.

He died in February 2026 after a “courageous” health battle, at age 53.
Dane’s death comes 10 months after the American star went public with his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), known as motor neurone disease in Australia.
Milano was one of the many Hollywood peers who paid tribute to his life, recalling his “razor-sharp sense of humour” and love of “catching people off guard”.
“I can’t stop seeing that spark in Eric’s eye right before he’d say something that would either make you spit out your drink or rethink your entire perspective,” she wrote via Instagram.
She spoke of Dane’s daughters and ex-wife Rebecca, revealed he was the reason behind her iconic pixie cut, and recalled how he called her ‘Milano’, “as if it was the only part of my name that mattered.”
“My heart is with the people who were lucky enough to be his home,” she wrote.
Julian McMahon, 2025
Eight months prior, tributes flowed for Australian actor Julian McMahon, who died aged 56.
Charmed fans would remember McMahon as the very cunning and very charming demon Cole Turner, who went on to marry Phoebe.
The actor “died peacefully” in July 2025 after a private battle with cancer, a date former co-star Brian Krause noted as “a sad day for our Charmed family”.
“Julian was one of the funniest, devilishly handsome and kind souls,” Krause wrote on Instagram.
Holly Marie Combs, who played Piper Halliwell in the series, paid tribute with a touching photo of the cast.
“One of a kind is an understatement. Your unyielding zest for life and crazy making sense of humor will be sorely missed,” she captioned the Instagram post.
Charmed star Rose McGowan – who also appeared alongside him in Nip/Tuck – remembered McMahon as a “force of brilliance, wild talent and humour”.
While Milano was simply heartbroken over the loss of her “magic” co-star.
“We spent years together on Charmed—years of scenes, stories, and so many in-between moments,” she said in an online tribute.
“Julian was more than my TV husband. He was a dear friend. The kind who checks in. The kind who remembers. The kind who shares. The kind who tells you the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable—but always with love.
“Rest, my friend. I’ll carry your laugh with me. Forever Cole. Forever Julian.”
Shannen Doherty, 2024
One of the original three sisters in the hit series, Shannen Doherty, died in July 2024 after her nine-year battle with breast cancer. She was 53.
The of the Beverly Hills 90210 icon death left fans heartbroken worldwide.
One year and one week later, her co-star McMahon would die from his own battle with cancer.
The beloved actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. It was revealed the cancer had spread to Doherty’s brain.
Following the sad news, a host of stars paid tribute to Doherty, including her former Charmed co-stars.
Combs said Doherty was her “better half of 31 years”.
“There is a hollow in my chest and I can’t seem to catch my breath. A part of me is missing even though I know exactly what you would say to me right now,” she wrote in part of her post, adding that Doherty was “a fierce fighter til the end”.
McGowan said Doherty “had the heart of a lion,” while Milano shared a statement with People saying she was “someone I deeply respected and was in awe of”.
