Jennifer Love Hewitt is known for her role as Julie James in the iconic I Know What You Did Last Summer slasher franchise.
But playing a character escaping a hook-wielding murderer in the film came with a small price for the actress.
Hewitt, 46, told Extra TV in a new interview that when shooting the first and second films in the late ’90s, she was accidentally hooked – once in the eye, causing her to go “blind”, and in the ankle.

“I think people didn’t know, or don’t know, that I actually got hurt on both movies with the actual hook,” she said, explaining it was a “real hook” and not “plastic”.
The eye accident happened when the crew moved Love Hewitt and her co-star’s mark during a scene in which her character is under a boat when the murderer comes.
“He hooks through this grate and he actually hooked my eye, and scratched my eye,” she said, saying the actors weren’t told their marks were moved.

“I went blind and had to fix that,” she said, before insisting she was fine following the incident.
“We’re fine, everything’s fine. We’re all good. I went blind for a second and it’s fine. So that was scary.”
However she spoke about being hooked in the ankle in the second film when her character was pulled under the bed.
“It actually went through the ankle in one of the takes and that was very exciting. I had to be looked at,” she said with a laugh.
