One of music’s biggest ‘feuds’ has come to an end after decades.
Madonna shocked fans when she revealed this week that she had “finally buried the hatchet” with Sir Elton John.
Sharing a shot of the pair embracing backstage of SNL, the Vogue singer, 66, penned a lengthy post to her millions of followers saying she had “admired” John, 78, since her teenage years and felt “hurt” by their public feud.

The American music icon explained they made up after she decided to “confront him” backstage at SNL.
“We finally buried the hatchet!!!” Madonna wrote in her post.
“I went to see @eltonjohn perform on SNL this weekend!! WOW,” she said, before recalling she once saw him live as a teen that “helped her understand the transformative power of music”.

She said his perfomance “changed the course of her life,” before going into their feud in her post.
“Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didn’t understand it,” Madonna candidly admitted.
“I needed to go backstage and confront him. When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, ‘forgive me’ and the wall between us fell down.”

Madonna then spoke about “forgiveness” and even teased a collaboration with the fellow music great.
“Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes. We were hugging,” she said.
“Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!!”
Underneath the post, in a public comment, Rocket Man singer John admitted it was finally time to put their ‘feud’ to bed.
“Thank you for forgiving me and my big mouth,” John said.
“I’m not proud of what I said. Particularly when I think about all the groundbreaking work you have done as an artist…”
“I’m grateful we can move forward,” he added.

There had been some sledges from John over the years.
At the 2004 Q Awards, in his acceptance speech, the Rocket Man singer made headlines for publicly slamming Madonna and her live performances.
”Madonna, best live act? F–k off. Since when has lip-syncing been live?”
“Sorry about that, but I think everyone who lip-syncs on stage in public when you pay like 75 quid to see them should be shot. Thank you very much. That’s me off her Christmas card list, but do I give a toss? No.”
However, he once reportedly admitted he “should not have said” the remarks and said Madonna once went to his house for dinner.
He also reportedly alleged on Sunday Night, in an old interview, that Madonna was a “nightmare” and said her “career is over”. He also said “she looks like a f–king fairground stripper”.
He made the comments in defence of Lady Gaga.
“Her [Madonna’s] career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn’t happen to a bigger c–t,” he said.
He also once said he had “apologised” for the TV interview comments and allegedly didn’t expect them to be aired.
In his 2019 memoir, as reported by various outlets, John wrote “the problem really started when she ran Gaga down on an American chat show”.
