Two months after the release of his viral Bonds underwear campaign, Robert Irwin has opened up about the “scary” impact it has left on his life.
“I’m in a scary place right now,” he told Us Weekly in an interview ahead of the Steve Irwin Gala.
”I’ve been kinda sorta avoiding the direct message section for a little bit.”

It’s no surprise the 21-year-old’s direct messages have blown up following the release of several images of him posing shirtless in Bonds underwear alongside various animals, but he says he did it all for the animals.
“I really thought in modeling Bonds underwear or doing Dancing With the Stars, that sort of thing, I could bring in a whole new audience to listen to my conservation message,” he explained.
For his recent announcement that he would be joining the cast of the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars, Irwin once again appeared shirtless with a snake wrapped around his shoulders.

“That’s how I feel comfortable. That’s who I am,” he told US Weekly.
“It’s all about this mission and I’ve got a real sense of purpose and passion. I got to achieve that.
“I definitely feel like I’m really lucky that now I’ve got a whole new audience that I can reach and hopefully just put out a bit of positivity and hopefully say, ‘Life’s for living at 100’.”
In joining the cast of Dancing With The Stars, Irwin is following in his older sister Bindi’s footsteps after she appeared on and won the show back in 2015.

“You have no idea how grateful I am to have Bindi,” Irwin added, sharing that he’s quite “nervous” for his dancing debut.
“I’m going to need all the help I can get. I’m not a dancer. It’s good nerves, though.”
