Chris Hemsworth is incredibly sceptical of his new generative-AI assistant in a new advertisement aired during Super Bowl LX.
Starring alongside wife Elsa Pataky, who has fully acclimatised to the use of Amazon’s new Alexa+ system in the pair’s family home, Hemsworth is not as quick to trust the new model.
In the commercial – which featured in a highly sought-after slot during this year’s broadcast of the sporting event – the Thor star was seen imagining all the ways in which his new AI assistant could mastermind his untimely death.

“It’s all buddy-buddy, then the next second it’s trying to kill us,” a distressed Hemsworth insists as wife Pataky looks on, nonplussed.
“Now, Chris, how would I do that?” Alexa was heard enquiring in response.
From there, Hemsworth becomes convinced Alexa is plotting his demise, envisaging a series of gruesome deaths orchestrated by the assistant.
In one instance, the Aussie actor – who portrayed himself in the minute-long ad – was seen being crushed by his own garage door, after Alexa saw fit to close it on top of him.

“The door’s jammed, take a closer look while I pull up a tutorial,” the assistant deviously advised an unsuspecting Hemsworth.
In another fanciful scenario, the star drowns in dramatic fashion when the AI home feature closes the cover to his pool in the middle of his swim, effectively trapping him underwater.
And in perhaps the most far-fetched flight of fancy of the lot, Hemsworth imagines himself being mauled by a bear, after Alexa sends him outside to retrieve a ‘package’.
“[Just like that], you’re a widow,” Hemsworth warns an unimpressed Pataky, to which she responds, “Right,” in a disbelieving tone.

The ad appeared to be intended as a light-hearted jab at AI sceptics, alluding to a growing aversion to use of the generative tool in daily life.
“You’re crazy,” Pataky dismissed, heading off to a meeting in the Uber Alexa+ had booked for her.
This is the just the latest ad the couple – who have been married since 2010 – have starred in together, previously featuring in a tourism campaign for Visit Abu Dabi.
The pair share three children: 13-year-old daughter India Rose, and 11-year-old twin boys Sasha and Tristan.
Hemsworth has recently given fans rare insight into how the couple have chosen to raise their young family.
The actor revealed he and Pataky see no downside to raising their kids in Australia, saying it “feels like summer all year round.”
Hemsworth, 42, and Pataky, 49, live in a $50 million mansion on a plot of land in Byron Bay, a coastal town in northern NSW.
The couple told People it’s the perfect spot to raise their children.
”We’ve got a big plot of land, a farm with horses, and our kids surf and fish and ride motorbikes all day,” Hemsworth told the outlet.
“And we pretty much do the same.”
